Hey Doug,
Just wanted to update you on a few issues I’m having with the yard. You can click on any of the pictures to bring up the full-size version.
Front Yard
Bay Window Island
Once again, they are edging this island. Since the downspout drains right above this, it becomes a conduit of rainwater. It’s something we seem to have to address every year. Can they please just mow up to the liriope?
Driveway Island
They are not edging this one and probably could. Not sure if instructions got mixed up.
Back Yard
Althea Along Back Fence
I’ve got 4 large altheas along the back fence that have taken a beating. These were original plantings when we moved here 23 years ago.
This week, two of them fell down on top of the gardenias. When I looked, there were many main trunks that had rotted at the base. I removed the worst of them and have placed them along the edge of the lawn. I’m sure it’s probably a combination of age, wind, rain, soil, and growing out at about a 45-degree angle reaching for the sun. Let me know if you want me to cut up the removed branches into shorter segments. I’m probably just going to remove all 4 of them eventually, just don’t have the resources to do it right now.
Lawn at Walkway and Circular Patio
We’ve got a ton of mushrooms this year! This is the wettest part of the yard when it rains and I’m sure that’s contributing to it. Can these be treated of should I just let them run their course? It doesn’t affect our use of the lawn in any way, just curious if they are harmful and should be treated.
